Descripción

Total Thermal Shield (ETT) is an insulating membrane with high-vacuum microceramic particles and nanostructured titanium dioxide, which applied to a surface reflects infrared rays, providing excellent qualities such as thermal insulation, waterproofing, anti-condensation and fire resistance. Simple to apply and environmentally friendly, ETT can theoretically reduce a home's heating and air conditioning costs by up to 30 - 50%.

CHARACTERISTICS

It comes as a thick liquid material, formed by spherical ceramic microgranules with high vacuum (microspheres with a diameter of between 20 and 40 microns and filler granules of 10 microns) that, once dry, covers any surface uniformly, forming a layer continuous and without splices, flexible and without cracks, which with a thickness of 0.5 to 0.6 mm, provides multiple properties in addition to allowing the substrate to breathe:

  • Excellent thermal insulator (hot/cold), as it reflects infrared rays.
  • High waterproofing and anti-condensation capacity.
  • Fire resistant: does not spread fire, non-combustible once applied and dry.
  • High adhesion on any type of surface and resistant to impacts.
  • Acoustic insulating properties.
  • Eliminates bacteria, fungi, molds and odors due to its photocatalytic capacity.
  • Accelerates the production of negative ions, beneficial for health.
  • Its properties are maintained for 15 to 20 years outdoors.

APPLICATIONS

It can be applied both outdoors and indoors on any material commonly used in construction: concrete, mortar, brick, slate, tile, fiber cement, plasterboard, stone, tile, iron, steel, aluminum, galvanized sheet, glass, wood, etc

  • Thermal insulation of exterior and interior buildings, insulation of industrial warehouses.
  • Interior insulation, avoiding heat loss (cold climates).
  • Health protection of buildings with special health requirements: hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, restaurants, hotels, schools, etc.
  • Indoor application to improve the balance of negative ions: feeling of comfort, strengthening the immune system, beneficial for allergic or asthmatic people.
  • Interior and/or exterior thermal insulation for prefabricated houses, prefabricated buildings in general, buildings, houses, chalets, etc.
  • Thermal insulation of agricultural and livestock farms with bio-healthy effects for livestock.
  • Insulation of data processing centers and other facilities that require overheating to be avoided.
  • Insulation of tanks or liquid pipes.
  • Coating of asphalt and uralite fabrics.
  • The application of ETT on roofs with photovoltaic panels increases their performance by approximately 5%, as the photovoltaic cells capture a part of the reflected light.

Preguntas frecuentes sobre Total Thermal Shield Fischer White Insulation Membrane

How long does it take for Fischer sealant to dry?

The drying time for Fischer waterproofing depends on environmental conditions and application thickness. Under normal circumstances, the surface layer dries within 24 to 48 hours. However, it is advisable to wait between seven and ten days before exposing the area to rain or foot traffic, as full curing takes longer. If it's very hot and there's good ventilation, the process will be faster. If you apply the product in autumn or winter when temperatures are low, it will take longer. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions on your thermal waterproofing packaging.

Can I apply Fischer's full thermal shield directly over old paint?

It is not recommended. If the old paint is loose or flaking, Fischer waterproofing will not adhere properly. The solution is to remove any old paint that is not firmly adhering, thoroughly clean the surface, and then apply the thermal waterproofing. If the old paint is firm and well-adhered, you can lightly sand it to improve the new product's adhesion, but always check for hollow or detached areas. Good surface preparation is what distinguishes a job that will last for years from one that will need repair soon.

What is the difference between a standard Fischer waterproofing agent and Total Thermal Shield?

The difference lies in the technology. A standard waterproofing agent seals cracks and prevents leaks, but it doesn't reflect heat. The Fischer total thermal shield incorporates microspheres that bounce off solar radiation, significantly reducing the surface temperature and, consequently, the interior temperature of the building. You'll spend more money on the waterproofing agent with total thermal shield, but you'll save on air conditioning throughout the product's lifespan. It's an investment that pays for itself over time.

How many coats of thermal insulation coating do I need to apply?

It depends on the type of surface and the specific product you purchase. Most Fischer waterproofing products require two coats to ensure complete waterproofing. Some applications on very exposed roofs may need three. The important thing is not to skimp on material because a single coat can leave fragile areas. Apply the first coat, wait the recommended drying time, and then apply the second. If during application you see areas where the previous material "soaks up" too much, that means the surface needed more primer.

Is it safe to apply Fischer waterproofing on surfaces where people walk?

Yes, Fischer waterproofing is formulated for high-traffic areas, but only once it has fully cured. During the drying and curing process, the area must be fenced off or restricted. Once the product has reached full hardness (between one and two weeks), it is completely safe to walk on. The total thermal shield does not make it slippery, although on wet or very mossy surfaces, the risk of slipping is the same as with any paint. If you need to improve anti-slip adhesion, there are specific additives you can add to the waterproofing before applying.
